Waiting in the Unknown: Trusting God in Your Postpartum Journey

Momma, I see you. You’re in the thick of it—navigating sleepless nights, endless diaper changes, and

the overwhelming love (and exhaustion) that comes with bringing a new life into this world. You’re adjusting to this new season, and let’s be honest, waiting has never been your strong suit. You want to feel like yourself again, to see progress, to feel a sense of normalcy. But right now? Right now, everything feels complicated.

But remember, you asked for this. Not in a flippant way, but in the deepest parts of your heart, you prayed for this. You longed to be a mother, to experience the beauty (and challenge) of raising a child. And while it may feel overwhelming, this season is drawing you closer to God in ways you never expected. Every struggle, every tear, every late-night prayer whispered over your baby’s crib—this is refining you.

Your Journey is Like a Polaroid Picture

Think of your postpartum season like a Polaroid photo. You’ve envisioned what life would look like as a mother, you’ve held onto dreams of bonding moments, peaceful snuggles, and a thriving baby. You took the picture, but right now? It’s still developing. The image isn’t clear yet. You catch glimpses—your baby’s first smile, the way they settle when they hear your voice—but the full picture is still unfolding.

God is working in the unseen. The days may feel foggy, and the nights even longer, but trust that what He’s developing will be beautiful. This season of waiting, of healing, of discovering who you are as a mother—it’s all part of the process. You may not see the masterpiece yet, but when the picture is fully revealed, you’ll stand in awe of what God has done.

Strength in the Waiting

God places people in our lives to strengthen us, especially in seasons where we feel weak. Maybe you feel alone, maybe your marriage is feeling the strain, maybe you’re struggling with your postpartum body. I get it. But know this—God is using this season to strengthen you. To shape you. To grow you.

You might be longing for the person you were before motherhood, or perhaps you’re waiting for the day when you feel fully confident in your new role. But mama, don’t rush the process. God is working, even in the discomfort. Trust Him. Trust that He is refining you, that He is providing exactly what you need—even if it doesn’t look the way you expected.

So, take a deep breath. Let go of the pressure to have it all figured out. Trust that your story is still developing, and when the full picture is revealed, it’s going to be breathtaking. Just like a Polaroid and a beautiful dream.

You are seen, you are loved, and you are right where you need to be.
