Living in the Moment: The Art of Being Present

In today’s fast-paced world, it’s easy to get caught up in “what’s next?”. We as a society spend so much time planning the future — setting expectations for what labor, nusing, and child development will look like, chasing dreams, setting goals, and envisioning the life we hope to have — that we forget to appreciate the life we are living right now.

But here’s the truth: the future is not guaranteed. The only moment we truly have is the one happening right now. (gasp.)

Yes, the future is big, beautiful, and full of promise. It’s easy to get lost in thoughts about what could be, who we might become, and the success that’s just over the horizon. But when we focus too much on what’s ahead, we miss out on the people, experiences, and opportunities right in front of us.

The people who truly care about you—your friends, your family, the ones who show up for you today—deserve your presence.

Let me repeat that. The people who truly care about you—your friends, your family, the ones who show up for you today—deserve your presence.

Don’t overlook them because you’re too busy chasing something that hasn’t even arrived yet, or are too distracted by this that or the other thing that would make you the "perfect mother." It’s tempting to think that happiness lies somewhere in the distance, but the most meaningful moments are happening now. Like, right now.

By the way, living in the moment doesn’t mean giving up on your future. This took me YEARS to figure out -- how the art of staying present in today, remaining grateful for who and what I have today, actually is a way to both honor God and others. It means being patient and trusting that by fully embracing your present, you’re actually building a stronger foundation for what’s to come. Growth happens in the now. Every experience, every interaction, and every lesson learned today shapes your tomorrow.

Enjoy the laughter, the quiet conversations, and the small joys that make life special. Put down your phone. Take a deep breath. Look around. Life is happening right now, and these moments are precious. Once they pass, you can’t get them back.

So, be present. Be patient. Live now. The future will come, but don’t let it steal the beauty of today.
